Mom & Me

I read this article yesterday and it totally hit a nerve with me. I am sooo guilty of getting caught up in the social networking and not enough of the actual socializing, and I especially love the theme, that your kids don’t care if your home is decorated like a magazine, or their sandwiches are cut in the shapes of cartoon characters.. they just want you, just as you are. Not with more stylish clothes, not if you lose ten pounds.. just you. The mom they already know and love.

And of course, that made me think of pictures.. and how many times I have heard some of the amazing, funny, caring and involved moms I’ve photographed put themselves down, shy away from being in pictures, or dismiss every image of themselves. They see wrinkles, baby weight, grey hairs, and tired eyes. I see evidence of laughter, love, caring, and devotion. Most moms I know are NEVER the ones in front of the camera.. either you’re always the one snapping the photos, or you just shy away in self-consciousness.. or both! No matter why, it’s no excuse.. just as your kids want you, just as you are, they want to be able to remember YOU, just as you were.. the mom they grew up loving!

In that spirit, I’m announcing a day of mom & me minis.. super simple, just 10 minutes with you and your lovelies, just enough to capture the mom they love and your wonderful bond together. The minis will all be held on Sunday, May 6th, at my little farmhouse. There is no charge, this is my gift to all of you.. for mother’s day, for every day, just for the simple joy of capturing those moments while we can. Minis will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis so please email me soon if you’d like to join in!
