Bunnylicious

I did not think, after our first round of bunny sessions, that those tiny little furballs could get any. cuter. But two weeks later, their ears have perked up and they are hopping! like crazy! All over the place! So our sweet and cuddly bunny sessions turned into chase the bunny sessions! Don’t lose the bunny sessions! OMGCOULDNOTBEMOREPRECIOUS bunny sessions!

Evidence as follows…

By the way.. we have just a few spaces left for the Dallas Blooms minis this Saturday! Friday is completely booked and Saturday will be too before the end of the week, please call or email if you’d like to book a sweet spring mini for your family!

Third time’s a charm

I make no secret about the fact that I love third babies. They are, as a general rule of thumb, the most easy going, best sleepers, and all around cuddliest babies to be found. This might be true also of fourth and fifth babies, but I’m hoping to never find that out first hand, so I’m sticking with the third theory. :) I also have never shied away from professing my love for girls. I was a girly girl, my favorite color is still pink, and the three little girls who occupy my house and heart are just about the greatest little people I could have imagined. Again, I’m sure I would feel the same had I had any boys, but I didn’t… I had my girls, and I love girls to pieces.

And so, I ask, what could possibly bring me more joy than to find out that one of my most favorite clients was expecting another baby..  yes.. their third.. and yes.. third GIRL!?! I’m pretty sure they could hear my squeals all the way from Ft Worth. Every baby is a blessing. But a third baby girl in this amazing family? A guaranteed rock star!

Sweet Lily Kate did not disappoint.. she slept through all of our poking and prodding, through four diaper changes and eight yards of tulle.. not a peep! Big sisters were as fabulous as I knew they would be.. appropriately fascinated with her tiny toes and soft head but also just contained enough to keep from bouncing her off the bed in excitement.

And mom? Totally chill, totally relaxed, and looks totally amazing! Yes, people, she *just* had a baby!

I wish I could post more.. I wish I could post them all! But i have to leave a few suprises (like the perfect family shot!) for when the gallery is ready.  Congratulations all, I didn’t think your family could be any more fun, but it looks like you’ve finally outdone yourselves!  :)

Hopping into Spring!

Brrr! Despite what the thermometer says, today is technically the first day of spring!  Sending warm, springtime thoughts with some sneak peeks from a much nicer day… our first ever bunny sessions last weekend! These tiny baby bunnies were impossibly sweet, all the kids had a ton of fun playing with them, chasing them around the grass, and cuddling their soft fur! I think the bunny minis might have to become a tradition… it was too fun to not do it again!

More from sweet Kelcy

Promise not to deluge the blog with Kelcy’s story, but I couldn’t help but share some of these.  Earlier this week, I spent an afternoon with Kelcy, to check in on the sweet little bug and most importantly to capture some pictures before her hair is lost to chemo.  Anyone who’s had to cut those first soft baby curls knows how painful it can be to see them go, but losing them in clumps to the big bad C at such a tender age is all the more heartbreaking.

This day, however, was not about the tears.. it was all about having fun, just a normal afternoon in the life of a three year old!

First, we played in her room a little bit, she showed off some of her favorite toys and her big girl bed.

A little bit of fairy princess time..

And then we decided to take advantage of the gorgeous weather and head outside for a while. I think we rode every bike, scooter, and other wheeled object in the garage, and followed that up with bubbles and balls.. the whole nine yards!

how can you resist this wink?

We both giggled much more than I thought possible, but by the end I know the excitement was too much for both of us.  When asked what the next thing on the agenda would be, Kelcy looked up at her mom and said, “Now I would like to sit on the couch, Mommy.” Tired or not, she was such a trooper, and I was thrilled to capture these moments for her mom & dad.  Between hospitals and dr visits, I know the ordindary everydays are getting fewer and father between, but it’s nice to have the memories of them to remind you of all the fun that is still to come for this precious child!

Team Kelcy

I’m breaking my Image of the Month rules again, this time the image isn’t even one I took!  BUT it’s got a much more important purpose…

This sweet face belongs to Kelcy Orr, a dear friend of our family who was recently, at the  tender age of three, diagnosed with kidney cancer.  Kelcy’s big sister has been a friend of my oldest since they were both just tiny little toddlers, and I couldn’t imagine a sweeter, more loving family.. the whole situation is absolutely breaking my heart!  Please help me in supporting her family.. as they say on the commercials for St. Jude’s, give thanks for the healthy kids in your life by helping those who are not!

What can you do? Join us on Sunday, March 28, at 8am for Kicks for Kelcy, a 5k race/1 mile family fun run fundraiser.  We’re hoping to raise money for the family as well as raise their spirits by showing them just how many people are behind them, supporting them, every step of the way.

Click here to download a copy of the flyer, please fill out the form and mail it in (preregistration is VERY important, as we have to have an accurate headcount for our permits!) and please please, pass it on to everyone you know!  We’re asking everyone in attendance to wear purple, Kelcy’s favorite color, to show a sea of unity as we walk.  You can also buy a support shirt from the online store we set up, all proceeds going directly to the family as well.

And keep in touch! We have a facebook group set up to keep everyone connected with upcoming fundraisers and updates on sweet Kelcy’s progress… we are all praying for her, but she needs our actions too!

Somebunny is getting excited!

Are you excited about the bunny sessions next weekend? I sure am!  Just a tiny glimpse of what’s to come… maximum cuteness overload!!

We have just a few spaces left in these special, first-ever sessions, they filled up faster than I was expecting! But we are SO excited about these sessions, we’re going to offer a FREE session to the first two people to respond!  Just hop on over to your email and send us a note!

Hoppy Thursday! :)

Bright eyed and bushy tailed

Ok not so much on the bushy tail part.. but it made for a cute headline! :)

Session yesterday wtih an incredibly sweet family.. gorgeous nursery full of light… adorable baby girl I could not WAIT to photograph.  Oh, the plans I had. And yet, how long am I going to work with children before I come to understand the basic fact: kids ALWAYS have plans of their own!

And this baby girl.. oh her beautiful bright eyes.. that WOULD. NOT. CLOSE. We swaddled, and fed, and cuddled, and fed, and swung, and fed, and even tried the old carseat on the dryer to mimic driving vibrations trick.. NOTHING. I am not exaggerating when I say she was laughing at us. If only you could have seen that little smirk we got every time we’d peel back the blanket, certain she’d crashed by now. Oh, the expressions on that one!

That’s not to say we didn’t get plenty of great wide awake shots… and some amazing stuff with mom and dad. And yes, after nearly three hours, she did pass out in the end.. giving me about five minutes to capture a few precious curled up in a ball sleeping shots. Just not the shots I’d planned.

But apparently I need to learn, I’m not the one whose plans really count!  Besides, I can’t imagine a better quality for a little girl to have than the assertiveness and confidence to speak her mind.. and march to the beat of her very own drum!
