Let the games begin! We’re kicking off the month of fun & games on the blog celebrating the 5th anniversary of Ann Beck Photography with the Cutest Five Year Old Contest! Starting a little early this month to make way for the anniversary fun that starts on Wednesday!
Our winning image this month comes from a family I have photographed many times, these two sweet girls becoming as familiar as any of my own little girls’ best buddies, I look forward to every session because I know we will have so much fun! They came in June for a tiny dancer mini session and their bright tutus fit in perfectly with their ready supply of smiles and curls.
We danced and picked flowers, stopped and smiled, and played in the water fountain for a bit. But my favorite set of pictures came at what started as a more quiet moment but quickly erupted, as little girls often do, into an all-out giggle fest, for reasons I’m still not quite sure of!
Thanks for the laughs, girls!
Okay, I won’t lie… we are pretty fond of our baby, baby or not, and are convinced she’s just about the sweetest thing since pink frosting. But I know there are some other cute kiddos out there too!
In honor the five year anniversary of Ann Beck Photography next month, we’ve got a month full of games, contests, and fun… 30 days of new blog posts to celebrate! The first contest, which will run the entire month, actually starts now. We’re so proud of our business turning five (and our baby turning five on Monday!) that we’re looking for the (other) cutest five year old in the Dallas-Ft Worth metroplex! Please submit pictures now through July 1st to be entered… if you can please include their first name and city. Voting will begin in July and run the entire month, winner will receive a portrait session and $500 credit towards their order. This is a BIG contest… we need lots of entries to make the voting fair (and fun!)

wild, crazy, fun, loud, active, silly, hilarious…. otherwise known as BOYS!
I’ve been photographing these three every year for what seems like their whole life, and they never cease to entertain me. This year we went to the arboretum for some more traditional portraits, besides the candids we usually shoot. And of course, at a beautiful location like that, what else is there to do besides sit and smile so sweetly?
Okay, there *are* a few playhouses to climb in, on and around….
And some big open fields that make great photo backdrops… or wrestling rings….
Oh yeah. and the fountains. I surrender! Another fabulous, fun, totally BOY shoot it is! 
Belated and a bit bleary-eyed… we have returned from vacation and hit the lazy crazy days of summer full force!
Our trip was amazing; we hiked in the mountains, swam in the river, watched deer snacking on the grass in our backyard, roasted smores and hot dogs over the open fire, and spent a LOT of time lounging in the hammock and catching up on trashy summer paperbacks. (Okay, that last part was more me than the kids, but we all got our fair share of hammock time!) I can’t say enough great things about this trip, and especially the cabin we rented.. we drove home so relaxed and happy, even after 9 hours in the car we were all on cloud nine!
Until, that is, we got home and discovered that our house had been struck by lightening! The electrician says we were lucky (yes-lucky!) in that there was no severe damage, and the house was still standing at all! Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for our electrical appliances, air conditioning, garage door, televisions, and just about anything at all that was plugged into an outlet… pretty much everything but my computer! (phew!) We’re working our way out of the mess of adjusters and service calls and hope to be back to normal very soon.
Normal being a completely relative term, of course.
I do hope to have all galleries caught up and lots of blog sneaks to come in the next few weeks.. and we’re gearing up for a lot of fun games & contests this July! Slather on the sunscreen and get ready for a super hot & fun summer!
