Running behind on posting as usual.. just had to throw up a few fun images we’ve captured in the last two weeks.  Happy Tuesday!

Guten Tag!

A very quick sneaky peek for some fabulous new friends who win the “farthest distance traveled for a session” award.. although I have a feeling the grandparents and cousins might have been part of the lure, I’m going to continue to pretend they were coming just for me! :)

This sweet little Brussel sprout was just a dream to photograph.. and mommy & daddy weren’t too hard on the eyes either!

Here’s wishing them a sweet, PEACEFUL flight home to Germany tomorrow.. little man had better fall asleep, or his auntie and I came up with some pretty creative ways to make it happen! :)

Holly Hobby

I had an amazing session this weekend with these two fabulous kiddos who have waited a long time for their session! The goal was bluebonnets… a Texas tradition… and after a week of rain we had the most beautiful day, couldn’t have planned it better!

As we were leaving the field.. camera already packed away.. I caught a glimpse of little miss running around in the patch with the bushel of flowers we’d picked for an earlier picture, wearing the Easter bonnet she had insisted she wear for the session, and, although it dates me, I couldn’t help myself but catch the similarity to a certain 70s icon… had to whip out the camera and tell her to hold still before it passed.. anyone else see it?

The center of the universe

That’s pretty much how I would describe this darling little girl, at least in the eyes of the people around her.  The first child, first grandchild (on both sides!) she reminds me so much of my oldest at this age.. just surrounded by her adoring fans, her every need tended to before she even knows she has it, every sneeze monitored and every small feat celebrated.  So different from the life of a second or third child, but it’s that pure adoration that makes first children so special.. so confident and assertive.  They grow up thinking they can do anything, because for the first few years of their lives, they can!

Back to this cutie.. I was honored to visit their home for her second birthday party, her grandparents booked a half day storybook session to be sure we could capture it all… and within a few minutes I could see why they worshipped the ground her tiny little wedge heels walked upon!

Mom & Dad recently moved out of town, leaving two sets of grandparents starved for time with their little angel. As someone whose parents call if they’ve gone a week without seeing granddaughters, I really felt their pain!  But they made up for the lost time quickly, showering her with love & attention the whole day.  Even her uncle’s dog (would you call that a dog cousin?) enjoys her company!

As with any good birthday party, we wrapped it up with a gorgeous cake (I’m told from this fabulous bakery in Southlake) and, I’m guessing, they followed that with a long nap.. it was quite a day for one little miss!

Thanks so much for including me in the fun.. can’t wait to share the rest!

Image of the Month: April

First off, my apologies for getting this posted a little late.. we’ll call it an April Fool’s joke that went very wrong. :) But I hope it was worth the wait!

Our April image of the month comes from a session that is one of my favorites in a while.  I’ve been photographing this little boy for what seems like forever now, and while it was just a few short years ago, he’s come a million miles from the shy and timid little toddler I first met.  The credit for this transformation into the giggly, sweet, bouncing ball of little boy you see today goes entirely to his amazing parents, who have gone through leaps and bounds to give this little boy the world, and in turn, they mean the world to him.  And so I was thrilled to hear that mom wanted a special session just for the two of them, a little gift for daddy and a way to capture their special bond. But how to capture such beauty, such pure love and admiration? Turns out, it was quite simple.. I just sat back and let them be themselves… I couldn’t have missed these moments if I’d had my eyes closed!

Long, rambling story short.. our image of the month for April: A sweet baby boy and his mama.  True love.

And because, like I said, this was a favorite recent session of mine, I have more than a few others to share.. couldn’t possibly leave you with just one!

I can’t think of a better reason to encourage people to book the mom & me mini sessions next month… forget the last 10 pounds, the overdue highlights, and the closet full of nothing to wear.  You won’t remember any of that when your little ones are driving themselves to college, or having babies of their own.  You’ll remember these moments.. the whispers, the snuggles, the joy… let us help you capture them while you can!

My bad… your good!

So it turns out we had a bit of a backlog on the blog last week; a computer virus attached itself to the site and none of the posts were sent out via email (by the way.. if you don’t get our emails, subscribe today! fill in the box on the bottom and get every post in your inbox, be the first to know!) and a few posts disappeared into cyberspace and were never posted at all. (Like the April Image of the Month!)  Many people couldn’t even get the website to show up at all! Boo!

We’ll get caught up on the missing posts this week, but I did get a few emails from people who didn’t realize it was already time for the Dallas Blooms mini sessions (this Friday & Saturday!) because they missed the email (the one that never went out!) last Monday.

We never want ANYONE to feel left out, so we’re offering a special this week only as our apology for the technical difficulties.  From now until Friday, our next three mini sessions are buy one, get one free!  This applies to the Dallas Blooms sessions this weekend (only a few spots remain.. call asap for those!), the Mamma Mia mommy & me sessions in May, and the Tiny Dancer tutu sessions in June!  You can buy one slot for yourself and use the free one right after, to allow for more than 2 kids or just for extra time & proofs.. or buy one for yourself and give one to a friend! All other mini rules still apply.. but this is still a great deal, which is why we have to be very strict on limiting the offer to this week only!!  Call or email with any questions!

Can’t end without a picture.. totally random one just to make you smile this Monday morning.. have a fabulous week!

Will work for cheese sticks

This sweet baby girl belongs to an even sweeter friend of mine, and we have been waiting so long, it seems, to finally meet her!  These pictures were my baby gift to her (it sure beats braving the crowds at Babies r Us!) and so, of course, I refused to let her pay me.  Sweet girl that she is, she insisted on taking me to lunch after the marathon session.  And so, here I sit, with work piled up around me, hurriedly putting together a sneak peek for my sweet, sweet friend and her sweet, sweet baby girl.  I know, too many sweets. But I can’t deny it.. you might just get a toothache from looking at these! :)
