Ready for a blooming good time?

It’s time for the perennial favorite…little love minis in the tulips! Join us at the Dallas Arboretum to shoot amongst the tulips and other amazing flowers during their annual Dallas Blooms! festival. A perfect opportunity to showcase the adorable Easter outfits and really enjoy the spring! This is one of our most popular mini session events and it does book quickly.. we have limited spaces available so please contact Erin (erin@annbeckphotography.com) asap to schedule!

All little love mini sessions are held on Fridays and Saturdays, 8am-12pm. Sessions are 15 minutes long, scheduled 20 minutes apart, and ideal for one or two children (two subjects only). Clients interested in a family session should schedule two consecutive slots to have enough time to get everything in. Each session will yield about 10-15 proofs for you to review in your password-protected online gallery for 5 days.

Mini session fee is $50 on weekdays and $75 weekends. Session fee covers time and talent only, there is no minimum purchase required. All mini session clients can take 10% off our regular rates and take advantage of occasional bonus offers available only to them. Orders received before the end of the 5 day gallery window can take an additional 15% off, for a total of 25% off the regular rates for their entire order. All orders must be received within 30 days.

This is a great way to get a few fresh, new portraits of your family before the fall holiday card rush without breaking the bank.. plus it’s so beautiful out there right now, you’ll want to make a family day out of it! :) We look forward to seeing you there!

A fabulous day and a funny story…

*Before I begin, a quick note.. I will be out of town until Tuesday evening, so please email Erin if you need anything and we will get back to you as soon as possible!*

A few weeks ago I had the honor of spending the day with one of my favorite families and the did not disappoint!  Thus was baby boy’s turn to shine, two years old now and full of fire!

We started the morning with a quick breakfast, and after a mouthful of donuts he was good to go! (bedhead notwithstanding)

After that, it was off to sports skills class to warm up those muscles…

On to lunch.  French fries dipped in ice cream, why not? :)

Home again to play quietly in the playroom with mom, dad, and big sis

And finally down for a well-earned nap.  Don’t you just want to squeeze those cheeks?

And now to the funny story.  Funny NOW, but not the last three weeks.  The next morning after our fabulous 8 hour session, I plugged my memory card into the computer to download all the fabulous pictures I was sure we’d captured.  Nothing. Tried a different card reader. Nothing. Tried a different card, all was fine. But my computer thought the card.. the 6 gig memory card with nearly a thousand pictures on it… was BLANK. Funny, right? A trip to Wolf Camera, where they spend a week running data recovery programs and are able to produce about a hundred images. On to the Geek Squad at Best Buy, who not only say they can’t do anything, they advise me it’s a lost cause completely. On to a few dozen or so more recovery software trials and heroic attempts by friends and family to fix it, all of which are completely lost.  I had all but resolved myself to throwing myself at the feet of my dear clients with the apology, their entire day had been wasted, and to beg for another chance. Misery. Finally, the bright idea (from my brother the computer genius!) to put it back in the camera, plug the camera in, and transfer from there. Eureka, we have pictures! All of them!

So as I said… funny NOW!  Now that we have all of these great pictures to share, and so many more to fill their book.. and YES, the corrupt card is now at the bottom of the trash bin.. good riddance!

Hope you all have a great weekend, as I said at the top, I will be out of town until Tuesday so phone calls and emails will be returned as quickly as possible either by Erin or me on my return. Thanks!

Recovery Mode

Whew, what a week! Our spring break was jam-packed full of fresh new faces and a few favorite repeaters.. just a small sampling of the images I have to share, sneak peeks for everyone.. and a good representation of how full my inbox is at the moment!  Happy Monday!

Ready for a break?

I don’t know if your house is as stir crazy as mine, but this rain just sealed the deal… spring break can’t come fast enough!

We are taking sessions over the break, as a mom with school-age kids it’s a great way to squeeze in a session without cramming it into an already packed weekend!  However regular client business will be limited, please be warned we might be slow to reply to emails or get ordered shipped out… but we will return to our regular busy bee schedule on Monday, March 23rd!  Until then, a picture from warmer days.. oh how I miss that sun!

Hope everyone enjoys the time off… and as a special way to kick off the fun, we’re giving away a full portrait session to the first person to email us today! Two catches: One, the session must take place next week, March 16-20th, and Two, the winner can not have had a session with us in the last six months.  We want to see some new faces!

Wendesday Guest Blogger: Toy Talk!

Sorry for the late posting, things have been hopping here! Thankfully a few days of rain means I have time to catch up!

Our guest blogger is Stacy, who also treated us to her crafty talents a few weeks ago.  This time she’s sharing some really innovative toy ideas from Discovery Toys, who create classic, high quality toys that kids have been enjoying for generations!  I personally bought the countdown racer for T.M.P.B.E. (little man seen below!) for his first birthday and mom swears it was an instant favorite… his big sisters actually fought him for it! :)

Today she’s introducing a new toy AND has a special offer just for my loyal blog readers!

Role Play with this classic doll with 3 characters in one.  Kids love Topsy Turvy Dolls because they’re colorful, recognizable characters that are magically reversible too! With a simple flip, turn over Little Red Riding Hood to reveal Grandmother, then turn it over to see the Wolf. Each character is beautifully costumed with memorable details from the classic story. Find this classic tale (and more) in My First Fairy Tales book, a beautiful board book with large simple text and colorful, friendly illustrations. Eight stories in all. 18 pages. From 3 years & Up.

Baby Boy’s First Haircut

alternate title, “What to do when your best friend is a photographer and slightly obsessed with your baby; i.e. take advantage of it every chance you can and suggest she come along to random milestones so you can fill his baby book without ever having to lift a finger”

:)

So this sweet boy is preparing for his first family session (will he be able to share me? only time will tell!) and needed a slight trim in the back, his first cut ever.  I just *happened* to be in the area, with my camera of course, so I couldn’t help but capture the moment.  I will say, I have been hired for first haircuts more than a few times before by actual clients.. and first days of school, birthday parties, and first visits with Grandma.. there are all sorts of tiny moments to remember, moments that are made so much easier on mom and dad when they don’t have the added stress of needing to capture it for posterity!  Let me do the work, so you can enjoy it!

Back to the haircut… as narrated by the. most. photographed. baby. ever.

“I’m not so sure about this idea…”

“Um, guys? I think maybe… um…. um…MOMMY!!!”

“This is SO. NOT. COOL.  And seriously? You with the camera? Can you put it down for once and help me?”

“Allright, you win. I do look pretty good. Time to turn on the charm again!”

Happy, Happy Family

Busy, busy week… no time to chat… just a quick happy picture to end the week on a smile.

p.s. don’t forget to spring forward!

March Image of the Month

Our March image of the month comes to us from our February mini sessions. These sweet toes belong to a little girl who was SOOO proud of her shiny silver shoes. Mom had her heart set on barefoot pictures, to match big sis, but she slipped them back on every chance she got.. in between shots, when no one was looking, maybe 4 or 5 times in their 20 minute session.  At the end I just couldn’t resist, and snapped a few just for her, sparkles displayed proudly.. all in the name of letting little girls express themselves.. even if that means some silly plastic dress up shoes!
