Tis the Season… already?

No, it isn’t *quite* time to start hanging tinsel, but I am getting more and more calls daily from families hoping to schedule for the holiday season. The bad news is that I have not opened booking for the fall just yet. But the good news is that you can go ahead and email me now to be placed on the waiting list, so you’ll get an advance heads-up when the schedule does open up… a good thing, because it will go quickly!

And on a completely UN-holiday note… some sweet little girls, just about as summery as you can get!

Beach, anyone?

It sounds good right now, huh? Cool, refreshing, salty winds misting you with each breeze, the kids laughing in the surf… who’s up for a trip to the coast? :)

Actually.. I am!

I will be in Galveston, TX from July 21st-July 28th and am taking a *limited* number of portrait sessions while in the area. These can be on the beach or anywhere else in the area (within 60 miles of the city of Galveston… this means you, Houston!), so if you have friends in the area who would like a session or will be around for your own family’s vacation at the time please let me know!

Due to time constraints I can only take a few sessions over the week, no travel fees or other charges apply, just regular session fees and print prices! I might even throw in a sand dollar for good luck! :)

Please call or email asap if you’d like to book a session on the beach… what better way to remember that sun & sand feeling all year long than beautiful family portraits? :)

More Birthday Babies!

This little girl came to me for her first birthday portraits… she was nothing if not full of expressions!

One is such a fun age… sometimes a busy toddler, sometimes still just a sweet baby.

And this one I loved… she had grown tired of crawling but I hadn’t gotten the one shot I wanted, so I was luring her with the only treat I had handy… the sunglasses on my head! Don’t you know she sped on over to me and put them right on! That’s a girl for you!

Don’t forget about my Birthday Baby promotion…. anyone with a soon to be (or just turned) one year old can submit a picture to me for a cutest baby contest, with the winner receiving a complimentary portrait session and album of prints! Due to my busy schedule and lack of posting this week I’m extending the deadline through the end of June…. email me soon if you’d like to participate!

The Big ONE

One year ago today I posted the very first message (and photo!) on this blog. In honor of this special day, I’m proud to announce a special photo contest for others celebrating the same occasion soon…
Happy Birthday Baby!

Instead of voting on your favorites of my recent pictures, I’m inviting anyone with an almost-one-year-old to submit a photo (non professional please!) of the little one to me. We’ll put all the candidates on the blog and take votes from my readers on which of the sweet little faces is the cutest and most deserving of the grand prize, a complimentary portrait session and leather brag album, featuring 12 of the images from their session mounted as 4×5 prints, for a total value of $400.

Babies submitted must currently be between the ages of 9 and 14 months and have not had a session with me in the last 6 months. Voting will be done entirely on the website, one vote per computer per day. All entries must be received by July 20, 2007 (or sooner if maximum number of entries has been reached) and the contest will begin Monday, July 23rd.

I know I’ve seen a ton of cute babies in the Dallas/Ft Worth area over the last few years, but I am guessing there are many more out there who have yet to be discovered! Help me celebrate my blog birthday with a big birthday contest for everyone!

Doesn’t take much

To get me to take a picture! :)

My mother’s day present was a new cell phone, which actually has a decent camera inside. No, nothing I would print and hang on the walls (or show up at a session with!) but it’s been fun to capture the little random moments, if only to scroll back through later and smile.

From today… we did a double take driving down the highway when we got passed by this guy… after all these years a giant roving hot dog is still impressive!

And then, the view from the back seat.. SIGH…. it’s going to be a long summer!

The Great Big Mini

So the summer mini sessions are in full swing and so far going very, very well! The spaces are filling fast: June is completely booked for all sessions, July has a few openings for full portrait sessions and three days available for mini sessions. If you are interested in scheduling a day of fun & photos with your friends & family please contact me asap for more info!

One of the biggest questions I’ve gotten is whether 20 minutes is enough time. Is it enough time for the child to really warm up to the camera?

Is it enough time to capture their different expressions and mannerisms?

Can you really get anything worth keeping (and printing huge for the walls!) in just 20 short minutes??

I think this little guy’s answer is very clear… he was one of the first minis of the summer and performed like a champ! My only complaint was that I couldn’t get him to stop smiling!

As I said before, please let me know asap to schedule your own mini sessions for the summer to take advantage of the easy scheduling and great pricing opportunities before they are gone!

The Big Cheese

Just a quick peek for mom from this morning’s session. She was so patient with me, despite the fact that I was having the kind of morning where you wonder why you ever got out of bed… and even this little guy, who should have been well past naptime and a mess, just turned on the charm for me, forgiving my lateness and other faults, granting sweet forgiveness in the form of one big gummy grin. How could I stay frazzled after that?

Have I ever mentioned how much I love my job? :)
