Sassy Pants

One of my *favorite* clients came back to see me again this summer and I couldn’t have been more thrilled. This girl is an absolute spitfire, so full of life & energy it’s unbelieveable. Last year was a Storybook Session and this year just some mommy & me portraits. I couldn’t have been more honored.

These two are so fun to watch together.. soft and loving one minute and tickle fights the next!

Finally, she pauses for a smile… but you can see it hiding in there!

Somewhere along the way I nicknamed her ‘Sassy Pants,’ and I am guessing you can see why

Finally, a glimpse into a quiet moment between mother & daughter

I can only imagine what next year will bring! Keep your fire alive, Sassy Pants! :)

Just one.

Jump for Fun

This is one of my favorite images of late.. just three kids and a trampoline. No preteen attitude, no sibling rivalry.. just pure bliss. Happy Jumping!

A day in the life

I recently had the honor of covering this sweet little girl’s first birthday. Not the party, just a day in her life, on a day that happened to be her first birthday. As you might imagine, a day in the life of a one-year-old is not very dramatic. Basically it goes like this:

wake up

Eat

play

eat some more

play some more

Then go to sleep again

and repeat as needed. :)

While it might seem trivial at the time, all those tiny, boring little moments are the ones that make the world go around, the ones we will look back on in 10 or 15 years, when this sweet girl is driving and dating and making her daddy very nervous, and wish we could relive. It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes, by Robert Brault:
“Enjoy the little things. One day you will look back and realize they were the big things.”

Sticky Sweetness

Is there anything better than bare feet on hot concrete, racing to lick the last of your popsicle before the summer sun melts it into nothing more than sticky orange streaks down your arms and chin?

Maybe only a cartwheel across the soft grass to top it off as the perfect summer day! Hope everyone’s enjoying the season!

Introducing: Photobooth Mini Sessions!

photobooth12We are *so* beyond excited to announce the latest and greatest trend in portrait photography… a truly unique style of mini session that is sure to be a new favorite!

Super simple and no-fuss, but also guaranteed to give you images that we can use to create innovative and amazing cards and prints… you won’t be able to get enough!  This is the latest trend in wedding photography and we think it will be an even bigger hit with portraits!

Introducing the Photobooth Mini!  An Ann Beck Photography original… a full day of mini sessions dedicated to just those fun, silly, candid and random moments snapped in the confines of a 2ft square photo booth!

You can choose from the classic gray curtain or one of our bright backgrounds for a totally modern Brady Bunch look… the choice is up to you!  We’ve got a whole set of cards and collages designed specifically for these images, you can go retro and cool or hip and fun… or, with a little editing, both!  Best of all, no stress over what to wear, as the clothes don’t show!  Just swing by and in less than half an hour have your family’s holiday images done.. and enjoy doing it!

Each 15 minute mini session yields 20 frames, which can be divided however you choose.  For example, for just 2 siblings, you could do 5 of each sibling alone and 10 of them together.  Or for a family of four, 4 frames per person and 4 of the family together.  And so on… there are no rules beyond the 20 frame per session, and you can always book two sessions to get more images.  The more frames, the more silly faces and fun things we can do. Bring hats, sunglasses, props.. whatever!

You are limited only by your imagination!!

Photobooth mini sessions will be held on ONE DAY ONLY: October 24th in Arlington, 8am to 3pm.

$50 session fee for each 15 minute slot showing 20 images, no per person limits.

All proofs will be shown in an online gallery approximately 10 days after the session for a total of 5 days.  At that time we’ll share some design ideas and product samples for you to select your holiday cards, wall collages, gift prints, and more.  Photobooth sessions are perfect for families wanting something unique who don’t need the benefit of a full session and more detailed candid images.  Please note, children should be able to sit on a stool safely for these sessions, so please consider that before booking for toddlers under the age of two.

*Special bonus* if you already have a full session scheduled for your annual portraits but just want the fun of photobooth shots in addition to that for your holiday cards you can book a photobooth mini at 50% off.  Full session must be scheduled for September-November 2009 to apply.

These sessions will book quickly, please call or email asap to reserve a space!

Feel the Sunshine…

These kiddos came in from Pennslyvania to spend a week on vacation in Texas, and of course to have thier pictures taken! While I’m sure the snow is pretty, the East Coast has nothing on our sun!

You have to admit, a little bit of warmth seems to agree with them!

Happy Father’s Day!

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing some of the most wonderful dads, and I wish all of them (and all of you!) the best Father’s Day ever.

I always love when dads join in the shoot, because you just never know what’s going to happen next! :)

Have a great day!

My favorite picture

I was asked by another blog doing a feature on me to submit my favorite picture and it got me thinking..

My FAVORITE?? I’m supposed to pick one? Do I pick my technically best image? My biggest seller? The one I get the most comments about? What about the ones with more personal meaning… how could I love any photo more than the one of my baby, still red and screaming, just seconds after she entered the world? Or my oldest, beaming with pride as she shows off her latest blue ribbons on awards day at school? Or my wild child, the blonde in the middle, who always finds a way to make a statement, whether it be with a song & dance routine or her unflappable pink boots… I have enough pictures of her in all her glory to fill my entire hardrive and then some!

I thought this predicament would be the perfect way to open this blog, because it really is all about the pictures… and the only reason I am in business is because I have so many favorite pictures for so many different reasons, and my goal is not only to find new favorites for myself, but to create images that can be your favorites. I love to hear parents say “That is SO her!” because it means my efforts were sucessful. I connected with the child enough to allow her to relax and release her real personality, then, in that fleeting moment, captured it forever.

And hopefully, some of my images can become your favorites. But I’ll never ask you to pick just one! :)

p.s. in case you were curious, this is the one I chose. My two oldest, almost two years ago in a moment that captures them perfectly, in more ways than one!
