Now Open for Fall Booking!

Yes, it’s finally that time of year!  Our fall calendar is now open to book your fun holiday session, for fabulous cards and the perfect gift for everyone on your list… beautiful portraits of your family! This is by far the BUSIEST time of year for us, so please please contact us early to get on the calendar… there is nothing we hate more than having to turn away clients we love because there simply aren’t enough hours in the day to fit everyone in!

This is also the time I get to announce our lineup of superfun little love mini sessions for the fall.  This is a great way to get some new portraits quickly and painlessly.. check them out and see if one works for your family! We’ve added an early group as well this year, August 20 & 21st, to give you a head start on the holidays! Get your portraits done before everyone is even back to school, and as an added bonus, we’re offering 25% off the holiday cards purchased from the August mini sessions!  It’s too good to pass up! :)

August 20 & 21: Fort Worth Botanic Gardens
The location you love with an added twist! We’re bringing a fun assortment of chairs, from bright blue stools to puffy red armchairs, to the green fields of the Botanic Gardens for a totally quirky, fun look!  Don’t forget, 25% off holiday cards ordered from these sessions only.. a great excuse to get on the ball!

September 17 & 18: Dallas Arboretum
The classic location that never goes out of style.. gorgeous gardens and stunning architecture.. it’s a must do at least once!

October 15 & 16: Farmhouse Chic
A brand-new offering that’s sure to book up quickly! Nestled in the middle of Arlington, this quaint family farm features an adorable cottage with a gorgeous wraparound porch and stunning red-trimmed barn, not to mention the rolling fields and trees!

November 12 & 13: Turtle Creek
This adorable little park in the Highland Park area has some of the prettiest stone bridges, moss lined sidewalks, and crumbling steps that you’ve ever seen! Classic and subtle, it’s totally low key and quiet.. and lets your kids’ personalities shout!

peace & LOVE

Less than one week until VALENTINE’S DAY! The construction paper hearts are glitter glue are flying around my house in frantic preparation!

In honor of the holiday, a fun blog contest… who do you LOVE? Tell me who you LOVE and why, and you can win a portrait session with them!  It can be your hubby, your kids, your great grandma, or your puppy.. I don’t care, I just want to feel the LOVE! I don’t need a novel, just a few sentences to convince me… make it funny, make it creative, just make it honest!

Submit your LOVE story to me by email, ann@annbeckphotography.com by Thursday at midnight.. we’ll announce the winners on Friday, in time for you to celebrate on Valentine’s Day with your LOVE!

Happy New Year!

Wow, 2009 was a whirlwind year.. came by in a flash but somehow managed to pack in enough drama/excitement for a whole decade! I think I’m not the only one looking forward to a fresh start!!

We had a wonderful holiday, spent some time on the beach and some time in the snow back home (!?! a white Christmas in Texas !?!) and now we’re ready to start the new year full throttle!

We’ve got a few big announcements coming in the next two weeks, so things will be slightly quiet while we dot all the is and cross all the ts and whatnot.. but I think it will be worth the wait! I am soo excited about so many things, and can’t wait to share them all! One of my favorite things about this new year is that it ends in 10, which happens to be my favorite number.. due in part to the ability to make top 10 lists, which will be a new tradition for this year on the blog: weekly top 10s. Nothing in particular, and feel free to suggest a topic… just completely random ramblings of mine, organized neatly into a list of 10. (OCD much?) :)

I’ll end with a few pictures of our holiday.. hope it was sweet for everyone!

My family and I are heading out for a much-needed vacation tomorrow morning and we will be closed for business until the first of the year.  Many exciting new things coming in Janaury, but for now, some R&R with my favorite people in the world.  Feel free to call or email during the time off, we will check them frequently and return sporadically as needed.  Thanks so much to everyone for making 2009 our best year ever, and we look forward to an even better 2010!

Merry everything.. and the happiest of new years to you all!

I am thankful for hope

Bright & early this morning, thousands of brave warriors began their march to fight breast cancer, in the annual 3day Walk.  Over the course of the weekend, they will travel 60 miles, each one having raised well over $2000 for the cause as part of their training, and now they reap the benefits of their work… the walk itself.

How, exactly, is a 60 mile walk a benefit? The experience is indescribable. Life changing.  Amazing.  Emotional and exhausting and exhilirating.  I was honored to have completed the walk last year with some of my very best friends, and many of them are walking again this year.  I’ve also got a handful of clients who have chosen to join the fight, and I couldn’t be more proud of each of them!

While I won’t be walking this weekend, I will be cheering them all on.  Both in my heart, and literally, on the side of the road.  I cannot tell you how important the cheering stations were to me last year, just when you feel like you might not make one more step, you see a group of people hollering and waving, clapping and celebrating.. it really gives you that boost that you need SO MANY TIMES over the journey. It’s the least I can do!

If you’d like to participate, there are designated cheering stations open to the public all weekend, you can find a complete listing here.  Bring a sign, wear a shirt, or just bring yourself.. and tell them THANK YOU.. for walking, for fundrasing, for bringing HOPE to so many who are fighting this battle against breast cancer from a hospital bed. Together we really can make a difference, and EVERY cheer helps! :)

I am thankful for November

Ah, November.  Always feel to me like a big inhale after the chaos of October’s fall sports, school carnivals, and costume chaos and BEFORE December’s all around holiday insanity.  Squished in between, we get November.  One month with nothing to do but recover from the previous and prepare for the upcoming… the only holiday gives us three whole days off of school and work for one meal.  Nothing to decorate, no presents to buy, just one dinner with the people we love.. and for that we get a three day break!  I love November.

November also brings with it the return of our blog tradition in taking a month to remember why we run around like crazy people all December, all the wonderful people we love and are so thankful for.  And so, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, we bring you a post a day in November with a moment of gratitude.. big or small.. and we invite you to do the same!  We’ve reopened the comments boxes on the bottom of each post (and crossed our fingers that no spammers will attack us again!) and we’d love for you to post your own thoughts.. what are you thankful for this month, or all year long?  And in true blog fashion, we’ll be doing random drawings of all the people who post a comment on the blog to win sessions, print credit, and Kidcore Toys gift certificates!

So ignore the fact that daylight savings has your little ones waking up before the roosters, and the decorations at the mall that are looming over your head, making you feel hopelessly unprepared.. and instead look at the names on your shopping list and remember why you care enough to drive yourself insane!

We’ll post our image of the month tomorrow.. for now a sneak peek from yesterday’s session… these kiddos knocked it out of the park! I know mom was a little stressed, but she can take that breath I mentioned earlier.. her only concern should be how she will EVER be able to choose a favorite!

Sorry to be such a tease… but more to come soon!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

Are you singing it yet? Been stuck in my head all night… yes, it’s a late late night, which means I have hit that stretch of the holiday season where I’m burning the midnight oils trying to keep up, and just looking at my calendar makes me start to develop a bit of a stress twitch… BUT… that said… I still absolutely *adore* this time of year!

Why, you ask? This is the time of year I get to see all my favorite little people again! Those little faces I look forward to seeing all year long… who get to show off missing teeth and new haircuts and shocking inches of growth.. hooray for the return of old friends!

And of course for new favorites to add to my jumping gallery!

To continue the celebration, let’s have a little blog giveaway!  We have a few spaces remaining in our holiday mini sessions at the Ft Worth Botanic Gardens this weekend, so let’s give away two sessions; one to a returning client (who perhaps hasn’t gotten around to booking yet this year?) and one to a new face, someone we don’t know we love yet but surely will soon! :) Email me asap to win.. and get ready to start humming those carols!

***UPDATE*** Thank you SO much to everyone who emailed!! We ended up with four winners, actually, as I was able to shuffle a few sessions around and make more room.. but now this set of minis is completely packed!  I hated to turn anyone away but I can’t create more hours in the day… though I certainly wish I could sometimes!  We do still have a few spaces in the November 6/7 Dallas Arboretum minis, so if you missed out on this one please contact us to book one of those before it is too late!  Thanks!!
