What does the session fee cover?
Portrait session fees, due on booking to hold your spot, cover the time for the session only, no prints or other items. It guarantees you a solid chunk of Ann’s undivided attention and creativity to produce some magical portraits of your family, as well as the hours she will spend after the fact, weeding through to find the very best and editing them to perfection. Our mini and senior session packages do include prints and digital files.
How long will it last?
A traditional portrait sessions will typically last about an hour, depending on how many people are involved. Mini sessions last a short & sweet 15 minutes.
How many poses will we do? How many pictures will you take?
There’s no easy answer to either question, as the flow of the session really depends on the people involved! We try not to do too many formal “poses,” but rather just have a fun time together! We do stop at times and set up group or individual portraits, but we try to keep it as natural as possible. Have a specific image in mind? Just let us know. I won’t guarantee a shot, as our specialty is candids, but the odds definitely increase if we can plan ahead for a certain shot.
Can we see every. single. picture?
Um, no. Trust me, it’s for your own good! Ann will typically take about 300 shots within a full portrait session, but show you about 30-40 proofs. First we weed out the obvious rejects.. closed eyes, unflattering angle, etc. Then we also narrow down very similar images to pick the very best, otherwise you would be completely overwhelmed!
Can we change clothes?
You’re welcome to bring a second set of clothes to change into during the session. However, we can’t make clothing promises (especially with little ones)! We recommend you start in the outfits you like the most and keep the extras as a possibility.
Can Grandma come along and take pictures with her own camera in between shots?
We love grandma, but no! no other cameras are permitted at the session, since they upset the flow and distract everyone, especially kids! (This includes video cameras, disposables, and dad’s iphone.)
What if my kids are NOT IN THE MOOD?
We’ve all been there… I think it’s Murphy’s Law of parenting, the more you need them to behave, the more they act like little monsters! No worries, the best thing for you to do is stay calm and let me take over. I may need to pull the kids away from you for at least a little bit, and please know this is not personal. It’s just a fact of life – Most kids just listen better and, most importantly, act more natural, when they are alone.
We survived the session! What’s next?
First: Yay! Now comes the fun part! In a few days, look for a sneak peek from your session on the blog or facebook! We will be in touch within the next two weeks to schedule your proofing session and give you the link and password for your online gallery, where you can view your full session over and over, share with friends and family, and start to narrow down your favorites! At the proofing session, we’ll look at samples of all of our products, as well as finished 5×7 printed proofs of each of your images. If you scheduled a signature or deluxe session, those proofs are yours to keep, as well as the drive of digital files we will also bring at this time. Together we will go over all the different options, help you decide on the best place to display your images, as well as the size and finish that works best with your style. By the end of the appointment, you’ll have a finished order AND a great plan! Of course, the proof collection will not leave our possession unless it is purchased. Anyone who is interested in making a purchase should join us at the ordering session (or view the proofs online). Sorry, no exceptions.
Is there a minimum order?
We require a $500 minimum print order on custom sessions. There is no minimum on mini sessions or senior sessions, which include the proofs and digital files.
Can we order the digital files?
Yes! We offer digital files for sale as part of the deluxe proof collection, files are not available for individual purchase.
When & how do we pay?
Session fees are due upon booking to hold the spot on the calendar. Please be prepared to make payment for any other prints at the time you place your order with us. We are always happy to work out payment plans to fit your budget, but orders cannot be delivered until payment is received in full. We can accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.
We ordered.. hooray! When will the prints be ready?
Finished portraits will be delivered to you within 2-3 weeks of placing an order. Canvases, storybook albums, and other personalized products require additional time. We’ll be happy to give you a delivery estimate – just ask before ordering! Also, keep in mind that due to the custom nature of photography we cannot offer any refunds on prints or products ordered, as it’s not anything we could reshelf and sell to another client! However, if you have an issue with your order we would be happy to work with you to make amends as best possible.
I want to order, but can’t make up my mind now. Can I call you next month?
Original files of each ordered image will be kept on file for one year following your purchase. Unordered images will be deleted after 30 days. Please contact us if you have a special situation and would like an extension, but in order to maintain prompt service and workflow for all of our clients, we need to process all orders in a timely manner.
I love my portraits! Can I scan them in to show my friends? Can I download one from the online gallery and print it for my fridge?
All images remain copyrighted by Ann Beck Photography and may not be scanned, copied, or otherwise duplicated . This includes copying the files off our blog or facebook pages. I know it’s easy, but it’s still illegal! All clients will be required to sign a copyright acknowledgment statement; violators will be prosecuted. And it really hurts our feelings!
Anything else I should know?
Above all, expect to have a fun, relaxed session and to capture special moments. We’ll handle the details… you just have to show up and smile!
